WiderMos manager visits Barcelona's International Logistics Exhibition (SIL 2014)

The SIL is an Exhibition held in Barcelona every year, and has consolidated in Spain and Southern Europe as an international point of reference where all of the logistics actors are represented, acting as a meeting point for business between Europe, Latin American, African and the Mediterranean. Different port authorities, transport operators, systems and service providers exhibit their different advances and projects.

WiderMoS Project Leader, Mrs. Federica Montaresi pointed out the relevance to attend the Exhibition and was present with the support of ASTA Logistik and CIMNE. The SIL, as one of the main driving forces of the activity of intermodal transport has been the scenario for introducing the WiderMoS project to some of the visitors to the exhibition and also to make contacts with different companies and organizations present.

During the visit some leaflets and personal cards were exchanged with relevant stakeholders. Some brief interviews were also developed.

The stands of Barcelona and Tarragona Port Authorities (BPA and TPA respectively) were visited and short interviews with their Representatives were carried out. Special attention was received from Mr. Carles Rua from BPA and Mrs. Genoveva Climent from TPA. The Spanish business cases proposed within WiderMoS will use these ports as the origin to test the Corridor Management Platform pilots.

Other relevant stakeholders contacted were the representative from BEST (Barcelona Europe South Terminal), Continental Rail, European School of Short Sea Shipping and ESPO (European Sea Ports Organization).

SIL was born 17 years ago as a Symposium, in 1998, and a year later celebrated the first edition of the exhibition that it has evolved from the hand of the sector and has been true to its uninterrupted annual event to reach its sixteenth edition.
